Cornerstone is a spectacular art and craft store, located between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, where one finds it in downtown Kingston. It adds glory to the lively area around, and is close to many hotels and restaurants. It displays brilliant original work by it’s’ artisans who are exceptionally talented.

The owner of the prestigious Cornerstone, Ellen Fraser, worked for some time in the northern territories of Canada like Nunavut and Nunavik. She offered the people a lot of creative delights, who were extremely interested and inspired in understanding more about the craft that seemed to occupy their interest. As a jeweler, she understood all the intricate details and thus wanted to satisfy her creative instincts. These crafts share many of the similar skills just like carving.

Ellen also, managed to be an inspirational figure after being a teacher, in Arviat, Salluit, and Iqualuit. At the same time, the students underwent workshops conducted by her, and she participated in the prestigious conferences.

Ellen’s affinity grew for the people up north and for their art too.. Thus, naturally, the artistic boundaries of Cornerstone expanded with time, to include Inuit art. It seemed like a natural transaction with time, and well fitting. All the visitors to Canada, look at Inuit art as the best Canadian souvenir to take back home.

Of course, it should be mentioned that all the work presented at Cornerstone is sold along with the label of Govt. of Canada, that it is genuine, including the artist’s name and identification.

It features the amazing carvings of Nunavut carved in precious metals, stone, along with a good assortment of various prints.
